Louie J. Evans, Jr.
August 28, 1931 - October 16, 2010
Savannah- Louie J. Evans, Jr., 79, passed away Saturday, October 16, 2010 at his residence under the care of Spanish Oaks Hospice.
He was born August 28, 1931 in Wilmington, NC to Louie J. Evans, Sr. and Ruby Thomas Evans. He attended Wilmington College in Wilmington and East Carolina College in Greenville. From 1947 to 1949 he served in the U.S. Naval Reserves and during the Korean Conflict, he served in the U.S. Air Force. In 1994, he retired from Belk Department Store as the Group Merchandise Manager. While living in Wilmington, he was a member of the Junior Chamber of Commerce, the Lions Club, the Optimist Club and the Elk's Club. In Savannah, he was a member of the Chamber of Commerce.
Survivors include his children, Louie Evans, III, Robert Evans, Stephanie Hilliard, Cindy Evans, Mitchell Evans and seven grandchildren.
A Memorial Service to celebrate his life will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, October 20, 2010 at Fox & Weeks Funeral Directors, Islands Chapel.
